A Liverpool community group is on a mission to open a non-profit ecological launderette in memory of Kitty Wilkinson, the Irish inventor of Britain's first public washhouse.
Launched on Kickstarter, the project hopes to raise over £20,000 for Kitty’s Launderette - the first non-commercial Launderette to open in Liverpool for several decades, dedicated to Wilkinson's selfless work.
Located in Everton, the washhouse will cater to one of Europe’s most deprived communities, by offering a place to wash and dry clothes for people who can’t afford to do their laundry, and a space for activities and social improvement…
